Letters and Despatches
Letters and Field Service Postcards were really the only method of communication available to the men who went to war.
Their letters were censored - there was no mention of military details and perhaps most men writing home would have been reluctant to dwell too much on the grimmer details of their lives.
The Field Service Postcards allowed the writer to chose from a fairly basic range of options to compose a message home.
Fife Cultural Trust has several sets of letters from local men that are being transcribed as part of the commemoration of the war.
